londoneye2012 225x300 Take a free morning ride on the London Eye in exchange for your best shot of the capitalLondon's South Bank will have an exceptional load of visitors this Saturday after a couple of weeks break. Tomorrow EDF Energy London Eye will 'Lift London' by offering people the opportunity to look at their capital city differently on a free rotation ride at 9.30 a.m. In exchange, the London Eye is asking for them to share 'a photo, a doodle or any other image inspired by their visit'.

Some keen followers have already tweeted their pictures ahead of the event, but most have taken to the Twitterverse requesting a free ride at 9:30am with the hashtag #LiftLondon. Due to its annual maintenance, the attraction was closed from 7 January and will reopen to the public tomorrow. The first 500 early birds before 9:30 will avail of the first rotation for free. This is to mark the beginning of a period following the successful Olympic year.

Matt Stuart, the renowned street-photographer, has been chosen to front the project, having already taken 12 photographs of 'spontaneous moments on the London Eye'. Mr Stuart, who will be attending the event to share his artistic expertise said: 'London is one of the most exciting cities in the world and we sometimes forget this. My work is all about finding inspirational perspectives from the everyday. The London Eye offers some of the very best views of London and every view is different, so the pictures I have taken try to bring to life the people and the skyline of London. I hope people taking their free visit will be able to find their own inspirational perspective.'

A selection of work from this 'mass-art project' compiled after the event will be shared on the official Facebook page of the London Eye and via Twitter.
