Arsenal are set to lose out to Napoli in a loan deal for the Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Júlio César.
According to reports in the Italian press, the Napoli manager, Rafa Benítez, has convinced the Brazilian to return to Serie A where he played for Internazionale between 2005 and 2012.
Arsenal were reportedly close to a £1.5m deal but César is believed to have chosen a season-long loan with Napoli, who finished runners-up last season to qualify for the Champions League.
César was in impressive form during the Confederations Cup and is looking to secure his position as Brazil's No1 in the run-up to a home World Cup next summer.
