Arsenal have been responding to fans' concerns about their lack of signings by sending out letters to reassure them that new players are on the way.

Arsene Wenger has only brought in one so far - young French striker Yaya Sanogo on a free transfer - and several near misses have been well documented.

But as fears grow over their hopes for the season following their opening-day home defeat by Aston Villa, it has emerged the club have responded to each discontented fan with a letter.

Response: Arsene Wenger has been under pressure for Arsenal's lack of transfer activity

The letter, seen by Sportsmail, reads: 'Many thanks for your email. We understand and share your disappointment that Arsenal Football Club plc have not secured any acquisitions on players for the new season.

'In terms of our dealings in the transfer market, we can assure you we have been working hard throughout the summer to bring in additional players and this will continue until the end of the transfer window.

'We are clear that our ambition at Arsenal is to compete for and win trophies. This ambition is shared by our majority owner Stan Kroenke, the board, Arsene Wenger and everyone who works for the Club.

'I take this opportunity to thank you for your continued and valued support of Arsenal Football Club plc.

'On Behalf of Arsenal Football Club.'

Arsenal have chased the likes of Gonzalo Higuain, Wayne Rooney and Luis Suarez this summer.

Higuain has joined Napoli, Rooney is Chelsea's main target and their pursuit of Suarez has invited ridicule after they mistakenly believed that an offer of 40million plus 1 would trigger his release clause from Liverpool.

They are now after Real Madrid pair Karim Benzema and Angel Di Maria and bid 10m for Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye on Monday.

John , Derby, United Kingdom, 23/8/2013 15:57.... Well that is rather obvious, Arsenal struggled to 4th last season and had to qualify for Europe, Man Utd won the league with ease, In other words Arsenal need to improve, Man Utd are already there. Such a stupid question for someone who knows anything about football. - alan, Its not important, France, 23/8/2013 16:37 ................................................................................ The difference is that Arsenal still have a manager, whereas United now have a muppet.

If Arsenal were not able to sign any player in 90 days that shows that the club is being run by incompitent people. The board is just to blame for not making any serious pressure. HIGUAIN wanted Arsenal but Arsenal did not even contact R.Madrid. DO YOU CALL THAT INTERESTED IN BUYING ??

If they really wanted to take the transfer market by storm, and get in a load of decent , top quality players, they should have employed Joe Kinnear... Oh, wait...

nice one Deano84, nice one son

@Hovis,Birkenhead . Wow aren't you bitter! You girlfriend must have run off with a Gooner! Poor old Loserpool though eh, aren't they good to laugh at! You looking forward to your Europe games then? Ah.....erm........ah......... Taxi for Hovis!!!!!!!!!

@Alf,Newcastle. Coming from a Newcastle fan haha! Seriously. You are forever whining about your chairman haha. What a laugh!

He should buy great players like,Van Persie.Nasri.Fabregas.i just remembered he sold them....

Oh I bet the arsenal fans were thrilled to receive a letter saying the board shared the disappointment the fans were feeling. Maybe instead of a letter they could...god I don't know...maybe buy a player that the fans can be proud of!? A bloody letter...seriously?

The only way to save Arsenal is to hit Kroenke where it hurts, his wallet. As long as Wenger could produce a 4th place finish with the second rate players at his disposal (which is actually a testament to Wenger's skills) Kroenke would not budge. Set your venom and fears straight at Kroenke, he is to blame.
