Jamie Carragher has admitted Liverpool must urgently address their poor home form if they are to stand any chance of pushing for a top six place.
Liverpool stretched their unbeaten run in the Barclays Premier League to a sixth game on Sunday when drawing 1-1 at Chelsea but they remain stranded in the bottom half because they have drawn six of their 11 games so far.
Results at Anfield have also damaged progress under Brendan Rodgers they have collected just five points so far but the difficulties experienced at home are not unique to the new manager. Liverpool have only won three times in the league during 2012 at home.
Rallying call: Carragher has demanded Liverpool improve
Rodgers' side face Wigan this weekend and Carragher, who made a rare start in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge after Martin Skrtel contracted a virus, has warned it is imperative that Liverpool collect maximum points.
'We need to start getting wins,' said Carragher. 'We might look at the Chelsea draw as a good result, but it's not as good if we only draw our game at home next weekend. Drawing games isn't enough.
'The Chelsea result can be seen as a good one on its own, but we need to capitalise on the games after it by getting three points. It's actually better to win one and lose one than draw twice. You get more points. Wins are vitally important for us now, especially at home.
'We need to start winning our home games. The home form has been a problem for some time. It's not just been Brendan Rodgers' problem; it's been over the last few years. We've all been talking about it between ourselves and what we can do to improve things. Home form is imperative.'
Starting role: Carragher starred as Liverpool earned a point at Stamford Bridge
The one shining light in this campaign has been the form of Luis Suarez and Carragher has labelled him as the best player in the Premier League, after he took his tally to the campaign up to 11 after his hot streak continued at Chelsea.
'People say we are dependent on Suarez,' said Carragher. 'But listen. Messi at Barcelona, Ronaldo at Real Madrid. Every team will have a standout player, and Luis is one of them, not just in the Premier League but in the world.
'I've felt for 12 months he's the best player in the league because he's not playing alongside the kind of players the Chelsea players can play alongside. He's one of the best players in world football and we are delighted to have him.
'He does things in a game that we see him doing in training on a daily basis. There's always that question, I think being asked unfairly, of whether he scores enough goals, but isn't he the top scorer in the league at the moment? And that's in a team that hasn't won that many league games.'
