Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is ready to make a shock 10million move for Liverpool's out-of-favour winger Stewart Downing in the January transfer window.
Wenger was outbid by Liverpool when he wanted to sign Downing in 2011 as a replacement for Samir Nasri and now believes he can rescue his career after the England international's torrid time at Anfield.

Current Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers does not want Downing, who has lost form and confidence since his 20m switch to Merseyside.
But Wenger is convinced he has the technical ability to fit in at Arsenal and would provide balance to his team on the left flank.
Downing can also play left-back, which has been Arsenal's problem position this season.
Capped 34 times, Downing was hailed as a new Kop hero when signed by Kenny Dalglish following an electric spell with Aston Villa.
But he failed to contribute a Premier League goal or assist in his first season and has been publicly criticised by Rodgers for a lack of work-rate in the current campaign.
Liverpool may try to use Arsenal's interest as currency to land Theo Walcott, who only has six months left on his contract at the Emirates.

AFC doesnt want to pay walcott the extra 15-20k a week.Walcott is the top scorer this season .In every game he starts arsenal has been wonderful to watch and on top of that win games.This joker tell us wenger paying 10m for downing who got no goals and zero assist.AFC already have plenty of useless players.These players like ramsey,jens,coquelin,squillaci,djouro chamak,gibbs.cant even be on the bench for manc ,manu, or chelsea.Ok,jens and gibbs will probably improve in the near future ,but now they are just not good enough to play for arsenal.Add downing to the list and AFC become the shelter for the flops because those who excel are sold.

I couldnt be more happy if this was actually true, let's be honest, if Arsenal do have a fair sized transfer kitty from the previous sales of players and recent new kit sponsorship, then why would Wenger want to buy one our biggest flops ? I'll be glad to see downing go but I don't believe Wenger would spend 10 million on a player like him....let alone spend any money at all !

I'm a Liverpool supporter all my life and I am telling you Arsenal fans, he isn't good enough for you. He's better of at QPR or Norwich. Some diddy club. He isn't big club player. The Reds, the red devils, etc etc.
