Liverpool are keen to push through a 9million deal after the 29-year-old postponed talks on a new contract with the German side.

Huntelaar will be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club in January, as his current deal is due to expire at the end of the season

The Reds are currently struggling to cope with Luis Suarez as their only fit striker.

Spurs have looked at Huntelaar twice before — when he left Real Madrid to join Milan in 2009, and again when he was made available by the Italian club the following summer.

Andre Villas-Boas is also looking to boost his forward ranks with Emmanuel Adebayor and Jermain Defoe his only senior forwards and Adebayor will be absent for some of January while he is playing for Togo in the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

Any club will be lucky to get him. Deadly up front

Huntelaar is a great finisher, but druing the build up play he does nothing and his workrate is appalling

Haha poor old scousers they even display a victim mentality when discussing transfer targets.... still cant blame them really its not their fault i expect....

DREAM ON!!! If Chelsea or City can`t buy him then the likes of two amature team have no chance!!

Several commenters here whining about Spurs attempting to poach Liverpool targets... Don't recall the Scousers trying to buy him from Real in 2009 or Milan in 2010! There's no need to be bitter just because its not the 80s anymore and top players aren't clamouring to join your club!!

Go get him please

Any player in the world would love To team up with the likes of Suarez and Gerrard oh and Jose Enrique

I'd go to spurs if I were him, Liverpool would be a major step back for his career.

Best finisher in the world!

Sums it up perfectly: RE:Pepper Did you miss the article?? Spurs have looked at Huntelaar twice before when he left Real Madrid to join Milan in 2009, and again when he was made available by the Italian club the following summer. Apparently Spurs stole Dempsey and Gylfi, however the truth is you couldnt match their price tag or ambitions.
