The agent of Italian goalkeeper Mattia Perin has claimed Arsenal are among those hoping to sign the 20-year-old.

Perin has impressed while on a season-long loan at Pescara from Genoa and in doing so is thought to have attracted several of Europe's biggest clubs.

In Wojciech Szczesny Arsenal already possess a goalkeeper of obvious talent but speculation regardless continues to surround his future and Matteo Roggi, Perin's agent, is insisting they – alongside Barcelona and AC Milan – have developed an interest in the promising Italian.

'There are many clubs interested in him: Arsenal, Barcelona, AC Milan,' said Roggi, who also believes the 17.4m-rated Perin will remain at his parent club for at least next season, to tuttomercatoweb.com.

'Currently, however, there is only one certainty about Mattia's future: he will return to Genoa at the end of his loan and there is a mutual intention for him to spend at least one season in a Genoa shirt.

'Just a month ago we extended his contract until 2017 and Mattia's cost is at least €20 million (17.4m).

'I am 99 per cent sure he will be Genoa's goalkeeper next season.'

Independent of whether Arsene Wenger bids for Perin in the summer, the manager is understood to also be looking at Sunderland's Simon Mignolet and to retain a long-term interest in Liverpool's Pepe Reina.

Szczesny isn't that good. Don't understand why everybody hails him as a great goalkeeper, he's always helpless when a goal is let in, never his fault either, that's hogwash and we all know it. The back four needs a real face lift, and we need a CDM, and with that we have a premiership winning team! U forgot a CF too

Who? Wants a Italian keeper? Go for Buffon, buy top players to be a top team again, just a few players deserve to play for Arsenal, a big club like Arsenal cant have weak players, weak manager and a weak board just like today...

Szcesny is an excellent goalkeeper and I very much doubt Arsene Wenger would go out and buy a new keeper... No story, he's our long term keeper

whatever happens to Arsenal who cares, Wenger and the owners lack ambition anymore and they care about money. Spurs are now better than Arsenal and oh boy that hurts. i hope the management will come back to their senses and bring Arsenal back to the top where they belong. We still gonna support them anyway cz they are the only team in England that play beautiful soccer.
