Team News
Ashley Cole will once again be missing for Chelsea in Sunday's Premier League game against Liverpool.
England left-back Cole sat out Wednesday's Champions League win over Shakhtar Donetsk with a hamstring injury and manager Roberto Di Matteo hopes he can return for next weekend's trip to West Brom.
John Terry will be pushing for a start on Sunday after he was surprisingly left on the bench in midweek, while Frank Lampard is still out.
Meanwhile, England full-back Glen Johnson is set to return for Liverpool for the Premier League trip to his former club after a hamstring injury.
Goalkeeper Jose Reina is also making good progress in his recovery from a similar problem and is not yet ruled out, although the following week's clash with Wigan may be more realistic for the Spaniard.
Manager Brendan Rodgers is set to restore most of his first-choice line-up after resting a number of stars for Thursday's Europa League clash against Anzhi Makhachkala in Moscow.
Match Notes
There is a certain irony to the fact that Fernando Torres, former Liverpool hero and sold in 2010 for £50 million, is perhaps now the one Chelsea player who would not get into his old team.
Both clubs are attempting this season to play a more expansive style of football but, although Liverpool have the outstanding striker in Luis Suárez, Chelsea's overall strength in depth should be too much.
Betting: Home 17-20, Away 5-2, Draw 12-5.
Stat of the game: Liverpool need one more stalemate for 100 draws in the Premier League. This is their 783rd game in the competition.
Jeremy Wilson's prediction: Chelsea 3 Liverpool 1.
