Bordeaux are ready to try to re-sign Arsenal misfit Marouane Chamakh in January.
The French club's president, Jean-Louis Triaud, claims the striker turn them down last season when they tried to bring him 'home'.
Now though, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is desperate to offload Chamakh to make way for a new forward in January.
Adrian Lopez of Atletico Madrid, Athletic Bilbao's Fernando Llorente and Palermo's Abel Hernandez are all on the radar.
But Triaud has warned that Chamakh will have to accept a pay-cut from his current £60,000-a-week in order to try to rescue his career at Bordeaux.
Triad said: "Chamakh could return. There is a serious chance. It is feasible for us and him but the choice is down to Arsenal. If he's not happy then we are in a position to talk about it.
"But money is the key question because salaries in the Premier League are enormous but it's also necessary for him to play.
"In December 2011, I sent a message to say the door was open for a return. But Chamakh wanted to stay. Now the message is there again with the same objective."
Chamakh, 28, joined Arsenal in 2010 on a Bosman after starring at Bordeaux, but has struggled to even make the bench on a regular basis and the Gunners are desperate to offload him.
The club know his wages - which are so high because he joined without them having to pay a transfer fee - will be a major sticking point.
Arsenal are keen to do a deal in January as it is understood they will get tax relief on a major purchase - it will be set against their profits because it would show investment in the company.
Reserve defender Sebastien Squillaci is another they will try to shift in January.
Arsenal will invite loan offers or seek a cut-price permanent deal for the France international.
Wenger is a long-term admirer of Montpellier defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa.
