Rising England star Raheem Sterling could be heading to Arsenal in a deal which would see Theo Walcott sign for Liverpool.

Walcott's current deal expires at the end of the season and manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly prepared to cash in on the winger after seeing talks over a new contract hit the skids.

The Arsenal boss is a huge admirer of Sterling and, according to The Sun, is prepared to offload Walcott plus 8million in his bid to sign the Liverpool winger in January.

Earlier this month, Sterling added to the uncertainty over his Liverpool future by withdrawing a tweet that was meant to reassure Anfield fans.

Sterling, who became the country's third youngest international in 100 years after making his debut against Sweden on Wednesday night, sent out mixed messages on Twitter by claiming he was going to sign a new deal on his 18th birthday next month - then removing the message.

It followed claims that his advisers were asking Liverpool for 50,000 a week.

Walcott is believed to be holding out for 90,000, but the Arsenal hierarchy are unprepared to meet his demands.

The winger, who will undergo a fitness test before today's North London derby, will be free to talk to other clubs from January 1.

This article is just bull.... Wenger will never do that....He may sell him but he will not do this swap.....Sterling is not that good where u wd wanna pay 12-13 mn (Walcott's value if sold, may be more) + 8 mn = Approx 21 mn for 17 yrs old....walcott is much better than him...He is improving with every game, more sensible in front of goal and crosses. Wenger please don't let him go

I am pretty sure Theo was brought up as a Liverpool fan. A die hard fan at that. Although to be perfectly honest IF he can get regular games I think his best choice for the time being is at Arsenal. I mean come on, he was pretty outstanding today against Spurs! :D

Unfortunately for scousers this is upto Raheem and his agent. If they feel you are not the best club for him then you will know how Hodgson felt.

Is Sterling really a good player so far? He is good at Liverpool because the team doesnt play good football and he does whatever goes through is head. At Arsenal games are planned and our opponents plan their games agaisnt each of our players. That young kid will never survive the pressure Arsenal players have game in game out. Anyway, Liverpool never had good controlers of the ball for the past 10 years reason why Sterling looks like Messi to them and their inexperienced coach.

Don't see Sterling scoring any goals for Liverpool, I think we'll keep our little scoring ferrari thank u very much.

What a joke the DM is - everyone should simply boycott reading this garbage. I actually read it for the amusement factor only these days... when last did they ever write anything original that came true? Walcott + 8 Million = YOU ARE HAVING A LAUGH!

I thought it was 01-April!

cant get more stupid than this lol

that will be a very unwise move. i prefer theo

No thanks, Theo is 100 times better!
