Arsenal are ready to step up their bid to land Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is a long-term admirer of the Spanish stopper and is set to make his latest move.
Wenger failed with a 20million offer for Reina back in 2010 but now believes they could land him for half that sum.
Onwards and upwards? Pepe Reina enjoys a laugh in Friday's training
Although he remains No 1 at Anfield, it is understood that boss Brendan Rodgers would be willing to listen to offers.
Wenger's cause is helped by the presence of Reina's fellow Spaniards Mikel Arteta and Santi Cazorla at the Emirates.
In his autobiography, Reina shed light on the moment Liverpool blocked Arsenal's first attempt to sign him.
He wrote: 'Arsenal offered 20m, a phenomenal amount for a goalkeeper. Part of me felt that I was well within my rights to consider my future.
'When Liverpool received the bid, they rejected it. I was told that my continued presence was crucial to the sale of the club. I was simply a bargaining chip in the sales process.'
If Reina does leave, Rodgers has Birmingham's Jack Butland, Stoke's Asmir Begovic and Ron-Robert Zieler of Hannover on his hitlist.

Liverpool should take the money. Twice his value on form of last 2 years.

Wenger doesn't bring the best out in goalkeepers.

I would like us to buy Jack Butland for the future anyway but Reina has years left at Anfield

Im a goal keeper, life long liverpool fan and i used to rate pepe as one of the best in the world, now hes fighting for his place with Brad Jones, the keeper who couldnt get into the Middlesbrough team 2 years ago..........sell him please hes lost us at least 30 points and an FA cup in the last 18 month! - Ric_83, Durham, 01/12/2012 11:54 Don't know why you got red arrowed for the truth mate. I'm LFC through and through and think its time he was sold on if he hasn't improved by jan window. Every shot at goal I'm thinking we have conceded with him playing. Worse than dudek and westerweld in the last two seasons.

Is this a joke? we already have Wojciech who is a great keeper, I dont see the point in spending money on a goal keep when we need to tighten up the defence and get another striker or a CDM. Wenger where is your logic!!!!!
