Elsewhere: Bordeaux 1 (Diabate) Newcastle 0

Later: Tottenham v Panathinaikos (8.05pm)

HALF-TIME: It's all going to plan for Liverpool, who are going through top of their group as it stands. Sportsmail's Colin Young has the lowdown from France, where Newcastle trail: 'Bordeaux go in at the break deservedly leading after Cheick Diabate headed the home side in front in the 28th minute.Newcastle, who have fielded an young and experimental side, have failed to manage a shot at Bordeaux keeper Kevin Olimpa.Rob Elliot meanwhile, making his fourth appearance for Newcastle United, has made three outstanding saves to keep his side in this Group D leaders' showdown.'

45 mins: It's half-time in France, and we'll have one minute added on in Italy, where Liverpool have another corner... Good save! Padelli tips over as Suarez tries an overhead kick.

44 mins: Chance! Liverpool are far more threatening than the Italians going forward but Suarez slashes wide from a tight angle when Suso and Downing were waiting.

42 mins: Suso heads harmlessly over the bar at the near post when he really should have done better.

French fancy: Bordeaux celebrate their goal

French fancy: Bordeaux celebrate their goal

40 mins: Young Boys have the lead against Anzhi in Switzerland. That means that Liverpool must win tonight as it stands.

37 mins: Suso is needlessly booked for kicking the ball away...

34 mins: Good save! Reina gets down and holds on to a daisy-cutter from Fabbrini after a jinking run from the midfielder.

GOAL!!! Bordeaux 1 (Diabate) Newcastle 0

Newcastle fall behind and it had been coming... A cross is swung in from the left and the tall Diabate rises between Newcastle's centre backs to head home. The Magpies have already qualified though, remember.

Opener: Henderson (centre) celebrates his goal

Opener: Henderson (centre) celebrates his goal

GOAL!!! Udinese 0 Liverpool (Henderson) 1

Liverpool have the lead! Suarez's free-kick was deflected wide. The striker then miscued his header from the resulting corner but it fell to Suso, who was able to cut back to Henderson to slot home.

23 mins: Suarez has a free-kick 25 yards out, central...

19 mins: Reina does well to tip over a curling effort from Pereyra. Udinese have grown into the game in the last five minuted.

17 mins: Ouch! Fabbrini lunges in late on Shelvey and is booked. Plenty of refs would give a red for that.

Must-win: Liverpool know that only a victory will guarantee progress

16 mins: Chance! Ranegie heads wide of Reina's left-hand post when he really should have got it on target at the very least.

15 mins: Padelli has to react quickly to prevent the onrushing Shelvey from reaching Suso's cross.

12 mins: Nuri Sahin has had to come off for Liverpool with a cut to the nose that won't stop bleeding - Jonjo Shelvey is his replacement.

10 mins: Rob Elliot has just been forced into a smart save in Bordeaux, where Newcastle's hosts have dominated the opening exchanges.

9 mins: Liverpool have started the better of the two sides and look particularly strong in midfield.

6 mins: Liverpool have forced their first corner of the evening... It comes to nothing.

5 mins: Suso has started out on the right for Liverpool with Henderson and Sahin either side of the deep-lying Allen.

Dead rubber: Bordeaux and Newcastle have both already qualified for the knockout stages

Dead rubber: Bordeaux and Newcastle have both already qualified for the knockout stages

2 mins: Ouch! Skrtel goes down after a nasty collision with Ranegie... but they're both back up after a bit of treatment.

1 min: We're under way in Italy, where Udinese have forced an early corner.

5.57pm: Out come the players...

5.52pm: Not long now until kick-off and the tension is mounting in Udine. Rodgers has shown how important he considers this competition to be with his team selection tonight and he would be loathe to exit at this stage. The Europa League has exposed some of his younger players to first team football and the opportunity of silverware for a club struggling in the league is too good to turn down.

5.42pm: It will be interesting to see who plays where for Liverpool tonight. Rodgers likes his attacking players to rotate but you feel that one of Henderson or Suso will be pushed up in support of Suarez with Downing playing wide. We'll be focusing on the Reds' game but I'll bring you regular updates from Bordeaux.

5.36pm: Don't forget that after these two fixtures tonight Tottenham play host to Panathinaikos as they look to secure their passage into the round of 32. A draw will be good enough for Andre Villas-Boas' side, but a defeat will see the Greeks through in their stead.

Key men: Liverpool's Luis Suarez (left) and Newcastle's Shola Ameobi

5.33pm: While Newcastle's game in Bordeaux tonight is effectively a dead rubber they know that a win will see them top the group ahead of the French side and earn a favourable draw for the first knockout stage.

5.30pm: Only a win tonight in Udine will guarantee Liverpool's passage into the knockout stages. A draw will see them through only if Young Boys and Anzhi draw. Their one saving grace is that Udinese are already out and the Italian side have rested several key figures including Azzurri striker Antonio Di Natale, who is on the bench.

5.21pm: Already-qualified Newcastle have picked an under-strength team to play in Bordeaux tonight. Mike Williamson and Shola Ameobi are the senior names among a team including youngsters Gael Bigirimana and Nile Ranger.

Newcastle: Elliot; Tavernier, Williamson, Perch, Ferguson; Bigirimana, Abeid; Ranger, Marveaux, Sa Ameobi; Sh Ameobi. Subs: Krul, Coloccini, Simpson, Anita, Cisse, Amalfitano, Campbell.

5.15pm: The Liverpool team to play Udinese is in and it is a strong-looking XI that Brendan Rodgers has picked as his side look to equal or better Young Boys' result at home to Anzhi. The only first-team regulars not picked by Rodgers tonight to start are Daniel Agger, Steven Gerrard and Raheem Sterling...

Liverpool team: Reina; Johnson, Carragher, Skrtel, Enrique; Sahin, Allen, Suso; Henderson, Suarez, Downing. Subs: Jones, Cole, Assaidi, Coates, Sterling, Shelvey, Wisdom.

5.10pm: Good evening everyone and welcome to Sportsmail's liver coverage of the final group games of this year's Europa League.
