Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood is recovering in hospital after suffering a heart attack.

The 76-year-old had suffered from pneumonia and was taken to hospital on Friday after complaining of feeling unwell.

Arsenal released a statement saying: 'Everyone at Arsenal Football Club sends their support and best wishes to Chairman Peter Hill-Wood who is recovering after suffering a heart attack, following a bout of pneumonia.

'Peter was taken ill at home on Friday and is currently being treated in hospital. He is making a good recovery.

'The Club wishes Peter a full and speedy return to health and our thoughts are with him and his family at this time.'

Hill-Wood has been chairman of the club since 1982, and is a former vice-chairman of the Hambros Bank.

He is the third member of his family to serve as Arsenal chairman, following on from his father Denis (1962-1982) and his grandfather Samuel, who had two separate spells in the role between 1929 and 1936 and from 1946 to 1949.

Get well soon Peter - from a Spurs fan. To others: such issues are not a time for immature jokes. Go and take a look at yourselves...

This has come as big surprise; as I never thought the man had a heart!

You people who mock him are really sick in the head

Anyone wishing him anything other than good will, should never support Arsenal again! I just think that this is an opportune time for him to step down so that we all can recover.

Michu should personally go to his bedside to apologise, twice, with 3 minutes in between.

Yes coz arsenal played badly

The hillwoods have supported Arsenal for many years and to disrespect a man during a time of illness is out of order. Wishing you well, sort out Arsenal when you recover, Arsenal will out live all of us.
