Wilshere needs time to get back to his best for Arsenal, warns Ramsey - Goal.com

Aaron Ramsey has called for Arsenal fans to be patient with Jack Wilshere as the England international continues his comeback after spending over a year out of the game through injury.

The 20-year-old scored his first goal since returning to action in midweek, in Arsenal's 2-0 Champions League win over Montpellier, but Ramsey believes he still has some way to go to recapture his very best form.

"Jack scored a great goal against Montpellier but he still needs time," Ramsey told The Sun.

"It will take him a while to get his match fitness back along with his full sharpness. People have to be patient with him. Of course, he's shown already what he is capable of and I am sure he will be back to his very best soon.

"He puts in a lot of hours trying to get in the best shape and hopefully he can get the rewards for his hard work. I thought he came through everything well and hopefully he can now stay injury free."

Ramsey also spoke about his recent experiences of playing in a wide position, saying he feels the new role will help him become a better player.

"I have played wide a few times. It is not my position but I was asked to do a job there," he added.

"The fans let you know when someone is not doing the right thing but they have to be patient and get behind the team and individuals.

"I have got my confidence back and I feel sharper. If I carry on improving, I will become a better player."
