What are some alternative tours of London? We've done all the obvious ones! - Telegraph.co.uk

Alternative London is a company that specialises in walking tours around East London. Tours generally last about two hours and will teach you about the area's social and cultural history, while showcasing street art by about 40 different artists including Banksy, Invader and Conor Harrington.

Alternative London also runs a bike tour that takes in street art in Hackney, Hoxton and Islington - and on Sundays includes stops at the markets in Brick Lane and Columbia Road. Walking tours are operated on a 'pay what you like' basis, while bike tours, including hire, costs £18 per person.

Another novel way of seeing London is to let yourself be guided by Ken Titmuss on one of his London Trails tours. You will be lead around a specific part of London with the help of old maps. The tours pay tribute to unsung heroes and little known stories of London life, with previous walks taking in Clerkenwell, Marylebone and Fitzrovia.

But perhaps one of the most unusual tours you can do in the capital is the London Liars' Tour in in London Bridge, Bloomsbury and Chelsea. A pair of guides will mix fact and fiction about a variety of London locations. It's your job to separate the truth from fibs.

The company that runs the tours, London Street Tours, also offers a three bridges tour of Chelsea Bridge, Albert Bridge and Battersea Bridge and a ghost bridges walk from Tower Bridge to Southwark Bridge. Tours are a bit ad hoc; check well in advance by emailing walks@londonstreettours.co.uk.
