Arsenal likely to postpone Boxing Day game against West Ham as Tube strike is ... - Telegraph.co.uk

An added issue for Arsenal is that it is not only fans who will face logistical problems but also more than 1,000 match-day staff, covering everything from catering to security.

Arsenal say that their main concern will be a "duty of care" to those attending the match and they are monitoring the situation with all the relevant agencies, including the Metropolitan Police, Transport for London, London Underground, the Premier League, West Ham and Islington Council.

Charlton, Leyton Orient and Dagenham and Redbridge are also at home in Football League fixtures on Boxing Day.

It will be the third successive Boxing Day walkout by Tube drivers, in a dispute which dates back to an agreement in 1992. The move was announced after Aslef members voted by 9-1 in favour of strikes in a row over extra pay for working on bank holidays. "The ballot result shows the strength of feeling that remains on this issue," said an Aslef spokesman.
