Twitter adds e-mail sharing - Washington Post

"Of course, you can retweet any of these to your Twitter followers, but sometimes you want to share with another group, like your college roommates or your parents or a friend who isn't yet on Twitter," wrote Twitter engineer Stefan Flip in the post.

Third-party Twitter programs such as Hootsuite already provide that function; so does the Twitter client the company bought last year, Tweetdeck.

To use the e-mail function on Twitter's site, users can click on the "More" icon next to the familiar reply, retweet and favorite buttons on the site. Users can also add their own comments to tweets they e-mail.

While users could always copy and paste a tweet from the site itself, the in-line tool will make it easier to share a tweet — and could help Twitter expand its user base even further.
