Hitting a brick Wal: Contract negotiations stall as Theo nears Arsenal exit - Mirror.co.uk

Theo Walcott's Arsenal future has been plunged into further doubt after his contract negotiations with Arsenal hit new delays.

Arsene Wenger has repeatedly stated that he is keen to finalize an extension to Walcott's stay at the club, but the Daily Mail reports that the England man's recent injury problems have delayed talks, and discussions are now not likely to resume until the new year - by which time Walcott will already be free to negotiate a Bosman move to overseas clubs, with Juventus and Atletico Madrid among those monitoring proceedings.

Walcott is Arsenal's top scorer this season, but with the 23-year-old seeking assurances over a regular central striking role and wages in excess of £80,000-per-week, Wenger playing hardball on both counts could lead to another high profile departure from the Emirates.

Theo is thought to prefer an English club if his demands won't be met in North London, and Liverpool and Manchester City are those most closely following the progress of negotiations.

However, losing another valuable asset could be the straw that broke the camel's back for Arsenal fans, with pressure mounting on Wenger like never before in his 16 years with the Gunners.
