Liverpool assault: Three deny killing Stuart Smith - BBC News

Three men have denied the murder and manslaughter of a man from London who died in an attack in the street.

Stuart Smith, 33, died following the assault in Back Colquitt Street in Liverpool city centre on 2 September.

Mark McEwen, 39; Michael Samuels, 39, and Joseph Walker, 27, were arrested at Anfield Stadium during Liverpool FC's match against Arsenal hours after the incident and charged with murder.

A fourth man, Hervin Kelly, 41, was charged with murder on 20 September.

Mr McEwan, Mr Samuels and Mr Kelly pleaded not guilty to murder and manslaughter at Liverpool Crown Court, while Mr Walker's case was adjourned until 18 December.

Mr Walker, of Pintail Way, Hayes, west London, and Mr Kelly, of Waterfall Road, Enfield, north London, were both granted bail.

Mr McEwen, of Angel Park Gardens, Brixton, south London, and Mr Samuels, of St James's Road, Croydon, south London were further remanded into custody ahead of an expected four-week trial on 25 February.
