'We know we have a large fan base in Australia and New Zealand and this visit shows our commitment to bringing the club closer to our fans all over the globe, no matter how far away from Anfield they may live. We are very much looking forward to playing in Melbourne and giving our supporters a chance to see the team up close.'
They will also visit Thailand as part of their pre-season tour.
The Reds will play one game at Bangkok's Rajamangala National Stadium on Sunday, July 28 against an as of yet unnamed opposition.
Liverpool, who last visited Thailand in 2009, will be bringing staff from the Liverpool Foundation to carry out work in the community during the visit.

Manager Brendan Rodgers told the club's official website: 'The players who went on the last tour to Thailand are really excited about going back.
'I've heard a lot about the passion and dedication of the fans in Thailand and we plan to bring them some great football.'
Ayre added: 'We first went to Thailand in 2001 and this will be our fourth visit to the country, which we feel demonstrates our commitment to our fans in Thailand.
'Since our last visit, we have created strategic partnerships to maintain the Club's presence in the region.'
Ticket details will be announced soon.

For the benefit of Australians: LFC are a team that used to be succesful but you will have heard of Man Utd a lot more than them ;-) Their football will also bore you whilst their star striker does not like 'certain types' ;-)
