London Welsh endure European baptism of fire with heavy defeat by Stade ... - Telegraph.co.uk

Former England full-back Sam Vesty scored half of Bath's points including the third of their five tries. Fly-half Ollie Devoto clinched the bonus point after 66 minutes.

"We lost our way a little but that is European competition. You don't always have your own way and they were physical," said Bath director of rugby Gary Gold. "But we have to improve things this week because we face a far tougher prospect in Agen. They have hit some form recently and are a quality team."

Agen stumbled to a 36-31 win over Calvisano, back in Europe after a three-year absence, in Italy.

London Irish scored six tries in their 43-16 win at Bordeaux-Bègles including two in the second half from centre Sailosi Tagicakibau, the second of which secured the bonus point.

England centre Jonathan Joseph, who masterminded last week's demolition of Northampton, capped another composed performance with the Exiles' final try.

Wasps also took a bonus point from their 38-25 win over Newport Gwent Dragons at Adams Park on Saturday night.

Wing Jack Wallace cancelled out an early try from Dragons centre Adam Hughes and Wasps went 25-15 up at half-time before scrum-half Joe Simpson clinched the bonus point with a try midway through the second half.
